On Sunday, June 14, 2020, more than 15,000 people flooded the streets of Brooklyn to protest violence against Black transgender people. This is the story of how nine LGBTQ+ activists created the historic ‘Brooklyn Liberation: An Action For Black Trans Lives’, and became the first-ever ‘Logo Legend’.

As part of their annual pride campaign, Logo, Paramount’s LGBTQ network, enlisted me to create a short documentary, honoring the activists who in the middle of a pandemic, organized an action on an unprecedented scale to protest the violence facing the trans community. Filming all 9 interviews over the course of one day, the piece weaves together each individual’s contribution, telling the story of how they pulled it off, and most importantly, why.
